Who we are
PitchScore is the match-day companion for grassroots football, built and maintained by the PitchScore team. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.
You can reach us about anything in this policy through our contact page.
What data we collect
Coach and manager accounts: your email address, your chosen display name, and your password (stored only as a secure hash). If you use a profile contact email or display name, we store those too.
Team and match data: team names, opponent names, game formats, squad details (player names, initials, squad numbers), match results, goals, events, substitutions and playing-time records, and any team logo you upload.
Supporter data: when you open a match share link, we store your player-of-the-match vote against a random per-device identifier. We do not require, collect or store your name, email or any other personal details for voting.
Payment data: if you subscribe, our payment provider (Stripe) processes your payment details. We store only the subscription status, plan dates, the Stripe identifiers of your subscription and invoices, and the payment amounts.
How we use your data
We use account data to provide your login, keep your teams and matches securely separated from other users' data, and manage your subscription.
We use match and squad data to run the app's features — the match centre, live clock, highlights, statistics and the supporters' match view you choose to share.
We use supporter votes to calculate player-of-the-match results. We use aggregate, anonymous analytics to understand and improve the app.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who data is shared with
Supporters you invite: match information shown on a share link includes the score, timeline and player initials and squad numbers — never full player names.
Service providers: our hosting platform, our payment provider (Stripe), and our email delivery provider, each of which processes data only on our behalf to run the service.
Legal reasons: where we are legally required, for example to comply with a court order or tax obligations on payments.
Children and youth football
PitchScore is designed for use by coaches and managers, who should be 16 or older. Supporters' pages only show player initials and squad numbers, precisely so that youth players' full names are not exposed.
Coaches are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate permissions (for example, parental consent) before adding a young player's details to a squad, and for sharing match links only with people who should have them.
How long we keep data
We keep team and match data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your teams, squads and match data.
Subscription and payment records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax purposes.
Vote identifiers are kept only while the match's voting stays open.
Your rights
You can view and correct your profile details in the app at any time, and delete your account data by contacting us.
You also have rights under UK data protection law to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
Security
Passwords are stored as secure hashes, never in plain text. Match share links use random, unguessable tokens. Team data is isolated per user, so no coach can see another coach's squads or matches.
No service is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data and will notify you of any serious breach affecting it as required by law.
